When it&#8217;s active you will have transparent overlay over the screen like this<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iristech.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/screen-overlay-on.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3510 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/iristech.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/screen-overlay-on.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"242\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are several cases which it will be usefull. One of them is when your video card and monitor doesn&#8217;t support any color transformation changes and there is no other way to reduce the blue light emitted from the screen.<\/p>\n<p>Second case is if you want only part of the screen to be with modified colors. One other case is also if you are into chromotherapy and color psychology.<\/p>\n<p>By using overlay with different colors you can change your mood as you like.<\/p>\n<p>Screen overlay is also connected to the day and night just like the main Color temperature and Brightness features.<\/p>\n<p>During the day the day values will be used and during the night the night values.<\/p>\n<p>You can Enable the Screen Overlay by clicking the Enable button at the bottom of the page<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iristech.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/enable-screen-overlay.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3511\" src=\"https:\/\/iristech.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/enable-screen-overlay.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"543\" height=\"671\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then you will see Screen overlay with the selected Overlay color<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iristech.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/overlay-color.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3512\" src=\"https:\/\/iristech.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/overlay-color.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"549\" height=\"669\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The buttons at the bottom of the page will also change<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iristech.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/screen-overlay-on-buttons.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3513\" src=\"https:\/\/iristech.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/screen-overlay-on-buttons.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"539\" height=\"675\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You see all different Overlay colors from this video<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iar-R41a5_A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Opacity<\/h2>\n<p>With the Opacity sliders you can control the amount of blue light emitted from the screen. I don&#8217;t call it Color temperature slider, because it&#8217;s really opacity of the blue light filter, not real color temperature values<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iristech.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/opacity-sliders.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3516\" src=\"https:\/\/iristech.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/opacity-sliders.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"537\" height=\"667\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It will also decrease the blue light, but I just think that the 2 terms need to be separated. Many blue light reduction applications for Android which use similar approach call it Color temperature which is wrong.<\/p>\n<p>The creators of f.lux say that this approach is ineffective which is also wrong. Placing red transparent overlay will reduce the blue light, but it just can&#8217;t be called Color temperature.<\/p>\n<p>The bigger the value of the Opacity slider the more blue light will be removed from the screen.<\/p>\n<p>At 0% there is not filter at all. So thing of this slider as to control the filter opacity percentage. The effect is almost the same, but the screen is a little more ugly this way.<\/p>\n<p>You can control the Screen overlay dimming by moving the Dim sliders. The lower the value the brighter the screen.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to note that when opacity is 0% dim will not work. For example when you paint something and want perfect colors.
